How-to guide Playlist shuffler

How to Shuffle a List of Songs without Repeating a Track

Here’s how to shuffle a list of songs without repeating a track: use one entry for each intended recording and enable Remove duplicates before shuffling the list.

The example contains the same track label twice. Duplicate removal is enabled so that identical retained title appears only once. Select Load example to populate the supplied list, or replace it with your own entries. Nothing is generated until you select Shuffle playlist.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Paste your own titles

Enter one song, episode, album, or movie per line. Include artist or series details when titles could be confused.

  2. Decide whether repeats belong

Enable Remove duplicates only when identical labels should appear once. Distinct versions need distinct labels.

  3. Shuffle and use the text order

Select Shuffle playlist. Copy or download the resulting title list and follow it in your own player or watchlist.

Worked example

The example contains the same track label twice. Duplicate removal is enabled so that identical retained title appears only once.

One valid result is shown below. Your generated outcome will vary.

Example input

Morning Drive
Paper Planes
Slow River
Morning Drive
City Lights

Example result

1. City Lights
2. Slow River
3. Morning Drive
4. Paper Planes

A nonrepeating text order is produced from the retained entries. Different spellings or artist-label variations can still represent the same underlying recording.

Normalize track labels before checking uniqueness

Include enough detail to distinguish genuinely different versions, such as live and studio recordings. Remove accidental duplicates manually when the labels differ. A saved no-repeat order solves the supplied-list problem, not a streaming service’s playback behavior. Playing another random shuffle in a separate app may follow that app’s own logic rather than this list.

Settings and limits to check

The example has 4 retained entries. The playlist tool rearranges supplied text. It does not fetch media, connect to streaming accounts, play tracks, or edit another app. Each retained entry appears once in the new order. Duplicate labels can be removed, but different spellings or versions are not recognized as the same recording. A new shuffle can repeat an earlier position.

Settings used in this example
Remove duplicate entries: On

Keep a usable copy of the result

Use Copy to place the current result in your own notes, or Download to keep a text file. Keep the eligible input list with the result when you need to explain which entries took part. A new generation replaces the displayed result rather than adding to a saved history.

The tool runs in your browser and does not upload your input. Save the result before refreshing or leaving the page. If other people need to use the same outcome, share your saved copy rather than asking them to generate another independent result.

Frequently asked questions

Does this prevent my streaming app from repeating songs?

No. It produces a text sequence. Follow or apply that order manually in your player.

Will it change my streaming playlist automatically?

No. The output is a text list. Apply or follow that order manually in your own player.

Does it recommend new titles?

No. It only shuffles titles you provide; it does not discover songs, episodes, albums, or movies.

What should I check in the worked example?

A nonrepeating text order is produced from the retained entries. Different spellings or artist-label variations can still represent the same underlying recording.
