About the random time generator

A random time generator selects minute-level clock values between a start and end time. Every minute in the inclusive interval has an equal chance. Use it for sample time fields, creative prompts, or casual activities that need an arbitrary time. The generator displays times as text; it does not create alarms, reminders, bookings, or calendar events.

How to use the time generator

  1. Enter Start time and End time using the time controls. The end must be on or after the start within the same day.
  2. Set How many from 1 to 100. Repeated clock values are allowed.
  3. Click Pick times, then copy or download the results. Disable numbering if another application expects plain times on separate lines.

Time generator example

One possible result is shown below. Your result will vary.

Settings

Start time: 09:00
End time: 09:30
How many: 3

Example result

1. 09:17
2. 09:02
3. 09:30

There are 31 eligible minute values from 09:00 through 09:30. The end time can be selected.

When to use it

Example time fields

Create sample values for a form or spreadsheet that uses a 24-hour clock. The output contains no date or time-zone offset.

Creative prompts

Choose a clock time for a fictional scene, game event, or practice exercise. The tool does not assess whether a time is practical for a real appointment.

A bounded time window

Limit picks to a selected period, such as 09:00–17:00. Every eligible minute remains a separate possible outcome.

Options and input rules

Minute precision
Times are generated at one-minute intervals and displayed as HH:MM. Seconds, milliseconds, and custom interval steps are not supported.
Same-day range
An overnight window such as 22:00–02:00 is not accepted. The end value must be at least the start value on the same 24-hour clock.
Independent picks
Multiple results can repeat. They are random clock values rather than an evenly spaced schedule or a sorted timeline.

How the randomization works

This tool uses the browser’s crypto.getRandomValues() source. Integer selection uses rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias. Each generated value is sampled from the eligible outcomes; the options above determine whether previous selections in the same batch remain eligible.

Entries and results stay in this page’s memory. This site does not upload your input or keep a saved history. A new generation replaces the displayed result; copy or download anything you want to keep before reloading or leaving the page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I generate times across midnight?

Not in one range. This version requires a same-day window. An end time earlier than the start is rejected rather than treated as the next day.

Can I use 12-hour AM/PM output?

The generated output is always 24-hour HH:MM. Your browser’s input controls may display localized time entry, but the results remain in 24-hour format.

Can I generate times every 15 minutes?

There is no interval setting. Each minute is eligible. For specific allowed times, paste those times into List randomizer or Decision wheel.

Will it set an alarm or remind me at that time?

No. The result is text only. Use a separate alarm or calendar application if you want to act on a chosen time.
