About the random dice roller
A virtual dice roller generates an integer from 1 to the selected side count for each die. Six sides is the familiar standard, but you can choose other sizes for games and exercises. All dice in a batch use the same number of sides, and each roll is independent of the other dice in that batch.
How to use the dice roller
- Set Number of dice from 1 to 100.
- Choose Sides per die between 2 and 100. For a standard die, leave the value at 6.
- Click Roll dice. Read the individual rolls and the total shown above them, then copy or download the results if needed.
Dice roller example
One possible result is shown below. Your result will vary.
Settings
Number of dice: 3 Sides per die: 6
Example result
Total: 12 1. 4 2. 6 3. 2
Three six-sided dice each produce a value from 1 to 6. Their displayed total is 4 + 6 + 2 = 12.
When to use it
Board and tabletop games
Roll a standard d6 or a die with another side count. Check the game’s rules to decide how many dice to roll and whether to use the sum.
Arithmetic practice
Use several rolls as addition or multiplication prompts. Individual values stay visible alongside the total so the calculation can be checked.
Probability demonstrations
Compare possible single-die outcomes with multi-die totals. Totals are not uniformly distributed: with two d6 dice, seven has more combinations than two.
Options and input rules
How the randomization works
This tool uses the browser’s crypto.getRandomValues() source. Integer selection uses rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias. Each generated value is sampled from the eligible outcomes; the options above determine whether previous selections in the same batch remain eligible.
Entries and results stay in this page’s memory. This site does not upload your input or keep a saved history. A new generation replaces the displayed result; copy or download anything you want to keep before reloading or leaving the page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I roll a d20 or d100?
Yes. Set Sides per die to 20 or 100. The output is a numeric roll, without needing a graphical model of the die.
Can the same number occur on several dice?
Yes. Dice are independent, so two or more can show the same value. This tool does not impose uniqueness on the results.
Can I roll mixed dice in one batch?
No. One batch uses one side count for all dice. Roll different sizes separately if your game calls for a combination such as a d6 and a d20.
Does it add modifiers or handle advantage?
No. It displays unmodified rolls and their sum. Apply game-specific modifiers, keep-highest rules, or advantage rules yourself.
