How-to guide Playlist shuffler

How to Randomize a List of Songs

Here’s how to randomize a list of songs: paste your own song titles one per line and shuffle the text list into a new listening order.

How to Randomize a List of Songs

Five fictional tracks form a small listening list. Artist details could be included on the same lines to distinguish recordings. Select Load example to populate the supplied list, or replace it with your own entries. Nothing is generated until you select Shuffle playlist.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Paste your own titles

Enter one song, episode, album, or movie per line. Include artist or series details when titles could be confused.

  2. Decide whether repeats belong

Enable Remove duplicates only when identical labels should appear once. Distinct versions need distinct labels.

  3. Shuffle and use the text order

Select Shuffle playlist. Copy or download the resulting title list and follow it in your own player or watchlist.

Worked example

Five fictional tracks form a small listening list. Artist details could be included on the same lines to distinguish recordings.

One valid result is shown below. Your generated outcome will vary.

Example input

Morning Drive
Paper Planes
Slow River
City Lights
Last Train

Example result

1. Last Train
2. Morning Drive
3. Paper Planes
4. Slow River
5. City Lights

Every retained title appears in a new position. Nothing is played, imported from an account, or edited in a streaming app.

Separate choosing an order from controlling playback

Copy or download the list and follow it in your own player. If a playlist must actually be reordered in another app, apply the saved order using that app’s supported controls. The tool cannot verify that tracks exist or are available. A title entered twice remains two entries unless duplicate removal is enabled.

Settings and limits to check

The example has 5 retained entries. The playlist tool rearranges supplied text. It does not fetch media, connect to streaming accounts, play tracks, or edit another app. Each retained entry appears once in the new order. Duplicate labels can be removed, but different spellings or versions are not recognized as the same recording. A new shuffle can repeat an earlier position.

Settings used in this example
Remove duplicate entries: Off

Keep a usable copy of the result

Use Copy to place the current result in your own notes, or Download to keep a text file. Keep the eligible input list with the result when you need to explain which entries took part. A new generation replaces the displayed result rather than adding to a saved history.

The tool runs in your browser and does not upload your input. Save the result before refreshing or leaving the page. If other people need to use the same outcome, share your saved copy rather than asking them to generate another independent result.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste a playlist URL instead of song titles?

The tool does not fetch playlist links. Paste the actual title list as text.

Will it change my streaming playlist automatically?

No. The output is a text list. Apply or follow that order manually in your own player.

Does it recommend new titles?

No. It only shuffles titles you provide; it does not discover songs, episodes, albums, or movies.

What should I check in the worked example?

Every retained title appears in a new position. Nothing is played, imported from an account, or edited in a streaming app.
