Step-by-step instructions
Choose the die size
Set Sides per die to the die your activity needs, such as 6 or 20. The choices run from 2 to 100 sides.
Set the number of dice
Choose how many equal-sided dice to roll in this batch, up to 100. Mixed die sizes require separate saved batches.
Roll and interpret the values
Select Roll dice. Read each value individually or use the displayed total if your rules call for a sum.
Worked example
Two six-sided dice are used for a standard small example. Each die can return 1 through 6.
One valid result is shown below. Your generated outcome will vary.
Example settings
Sides per die: 6 Number of dice: 2
Example result
1. 5 2. 2
The displayed total is the sum of both values. It is not a separate uniformly selected integer from 2 through 12.
Read the individual dice when rules require them
Some games use matching faces, the highest value, or individual successes rather than the total. Keep those rules separate from the tool’s sum. Two equal values are valid because the dice are independent. Do not turn a six-sided roll into a zero-based 0–5 result unless your activity specifically requires a separate mapping.
Settings and limits to check
Each die independently selects an integer from 1 through the chosen side count. Repeats are valid, so two six-sided dice can both show 4. The total adds the displayed dice but does not apply game modifiers, advantage rules, reroll conditions, or custom success thresholds. Those interpretations belong to your game rules.
Settings used in this example
Sides per die: 6 Number of dice: 2
Keep a usable copy of the result
Use Copy to place the current result in your own notes, or Download to keep a text file. Keep the range, count, or other settings with the result when they are needed to interpret it. A new generation replaces the displayed result rather than adding to a saved history.
The tool runs in your browser and does not upload your input. Save the result before refreshing or leaving the page. If other people need to use the same outcome, share your saved copy rather than asking them to generate another independent result.
Frequently asked questions
Does rolling two dice produce a uniform sum?
No. Some sums can be formed in more ways than others. The dice themselves are selected independently.
Can I roll different die sizes together?
One batch uses a single side count. Roll and save each die type separately if your game combines sizes.
Does the total include bonuses or penalties?
No. The total is the sum of the raw dice. Apply your game’s modifiers afterward.
What should I check in the worked example?
The displayed total is the sum of both values. It is not a separate uniformly selected integer from 2 through 12.
